Volkswagen will lift the wraps off a new variant of its popular car, Polo. To be a competitor to Maruti’s Swift, Hyundai’s Getz and Tata Motor’s Indica, the new Polo variant will be designed and developed by Volkswagen internally for the Indian market. The carmaker, meanwhile, inked a pact with the Maharastra government for producing Volkswagen cars from Pune. According to a Volkswagen official, the company would go for the B segment of the passenger car market, which incidentally is the largest in the country. The company sees further growth in this segment.The new plant would boast of an initial capacity of 110,000 units by 2009. The company is expected to invest around Rs 2,450 crore for the plant. Further, the car maker had also rolled out its Passat model , which will done a price tag of Rs 25 lakh . He facility would manufacture Volkswagen cars and look for few models from the Audi stable.
This Volkswagen Polo will be expected in the early months of the next year. Polo had got very much length and width when compared to the other hatchback cars. It has got a length of 3952mm and a width of 1682mm. Also it has got a boot space of 280ltrs. and when the backseats are pulled up enough space will be there for the luggages to hold. Maybe in India this Volkswagen Polo will be having the engine of the Skoda Fabia. It is actually not yet decided by the company.
The actual price of the Volkswagen Polo will be in the range 4 to 5 lakhs.
